The Beautiful Mix Of Serenity And Buzz In The City Of St. Louis

St. Louis is a beautiful port city in the state of Missouri located right along the western bank of the gushing Mississippi River. It is not just the largest metropolitan area of the state. It also has the distinction of being a major cultural and economic center of the state. I am mesmerized by the charms of this place right from the museums to the lush greenery of the forest parks. To me, the best thing about this place is the widest range of opportunities that it offers to the travelers. From the bustling pubs to the quiet grandeur of the Basilica, it has something for everyone. Here is my list of the top five things to do in the city.

The Turtle Playground

If you are on a trip with your family, then this one should be a must-see on your list- it surely was on mine. The park consists only of concrete reptiles that are far larger than their actual size. You can get on these and enjoy looking at your children having a gala time, just as I did. If you are taking your car to see the area, I would suggest you park on the Oakland Avenue as it is the nearest parking place from the park.

The City Museum

I would call it more of a fantasy world and not a real museum per se. As a visitor, you can climb up on the old chimneys, the train town and salvaged bridges and more. The most amusing things to see are the suspended jets, the hugest pit ball and a castle turret named Monstro-city. It was the most amazing thing I was on the North 15th Street.

Remains Of Pruitt-Lgoe

The walking trail of the Pruitt-Igoe shows the greatest failure of the utopian urban housing plan. It was planned as a solution for urban housing but was later so much overtaken with crime and death that it had to be abandoned. I enjoyed the serenity of talking a walk through the dirt trail and mourning the loss of lives that struggled to survive.

The Magic House

The magic house confirmed my belief in the fact that you do not have to be a child to indulge in the world of magic and madness. The place is predominantly known as a children’s museum and has been housed in an abandoned Victorian mansion in the suburbs of Kirkwood. While at this place, it would not harm you to become a child just for a day. In fact, you will even enjoy being a child with your kid.

The American Kennel Club

This is one of the most unique museums that you will find anywhere in the world. It has the most extensive collection of fine arts devoted to the best friend of the man.The list of places to visit and things to do are actually endless. The design and architectural history of St. Louis are also endless. I have only listed a few of the places that are close to my heart, and you can add more to the list.
